Gorgeous article in Forbes about a bright comet in the revenge porn fight, Adam Steinbaugh. In the words of Professor Mary Anne Franks, “Adam is an unsung here of the anti-revenge porn movement.” “He just does what he can do to make the world a little less safe for terrible people.” Since then, and after announcing his intention to pursue claims against myex.com, one such terrible person has tsunami-ed his email inbox, sending over 30,000 emails. Now THAT (the consumer) is a guy committed to his porn, porn that happens to by definition be comprised of involuntary subjects. I’m so curious about the pathology of people who are sexually aroused by subjects who no doubt are in serious emotional distress about being strangers’ sexual entertainment. What do they do? Where do they live? Are they menaces in other contexts? How do they have so much time to harass and stalk and send 30,000 emails?
