The Electronic Privacy Information Act honors Carrie Goldberg with its 2017 EPIC Privacy Champion Award in D.C. (Jun 5, 2017)

EPIC issued Freedom Awards to Goldberg, human rights activist Kasparov, computer scientist Ron Rivest, and Judge Patricia Wald. The dinner was held at National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

An excerpt of Carrie’s remarks:

“When we think about privacy, we can’t just think about it when our government or big businesses violate it, but also when individuals do. In this culture of humiliation where everybody online is a publisher, voyeur, and exhibitionist, there is a true value to privacy.  Especially sexual privacy and it becomes a commodity that bad actors can steal and use to control.”
