C.A. Goldberg, PLLC is a Brooklyn-based litigation law firm that fights for victims of sexual assault, blackmail, and stalking. We are on the lookout for a Legal Assistant who is organized, thorough, and fast on their feet.
The firm handles very sensitive matters that require timely and accurate completion of tasks by the Legal Assistant. It’s crucial that candidates can prioritize assignments and meet deadlines!
The Legal Assistant will perform a range of admin tasks related to case management, including preparation / mailing of correspondence and court papers, drafting and proofreading correspondence, assembling motions, research, assisting with content removal, and managing digital and physical filing.
Ideal candidate has as at least 2 years of office experience, preferably at a litigation firm, possesses strong organizational habits, is Mac literate, socially intelligent when addressing staff, potential clients, and current clients, and thrives in a fast-paced environment and is a skilled task juggler.
Most importantly, we want someone who just has that thing where you know what to do and when to do it!
General assistance to owner and attorneys
Facilitation of weekly attorney meetings about work in progress
Ability to learn and master our Practice Management Software
Calendar management and docketing
Drafting and proofreading legal correspondence
Preparing court filings and mailing of legal docs
Handling client billing and invoice
Familiarity with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and New York Civil Practice Law and Rules is a major plus
Coping skills – Exposure to disturbing information and sexually graphic material is a regular part of the job. You must be self-contained and emotionally mature.
Proactive and adaptive – We highly value people who recognize when it’s best to Google the solution to their question before asking it.
Consistent delivery – Meeting goals must be super important to you. This role is an integral part of the office’s ecosystem and you must understand how completing smaller, not-so-glam tasks on time directly advances the firm’s mission to help people who are under attack.
This is not stepping stone job to be on our legal team. Nobody with a JD will be considered. We need somebody whose goal is to help the attorneys work at optimal level.
Finally, it is more important to us that you have the skills for the job than that you are passionate about our practice areas.
